LiveRoof® Area Manager

Position Summary

Riverbend Nursery, Inc. is seeking an Area Sales Manager for the LiveRoof® pre-vegetated Modular Green Roof System, covering the areas of Southwest Virginia, North Carolina, and surrounding areas.  This position requires a highly-independent, motivated person, creative in identifying successful sales strategies, who is available for travel 150 days annually, and is experienced selling business to business via seminars, cold calls, trade shows, and presentations to architects, developers and contractors.  The successful candidate will have a proven record selling commercial roofing system to contractors, demonstrated success in influencing job specifications with contractors and architects, have established contacts in the industry within the mid-Atlantic region, and have strong computer skills.  Preference given for knowledge of plant material suitable for green roofing.  For more information, visit www.riverbendnursery.com for a job description and application.  Email resume and application to HR@riverbendnursery.com.  EOE

About Us

Riverbend Nursery is a progressive container grower of quality perennials, herbs, groundcovers, and ornamental grasses. A Wholesale Only grower, Riverbend sells to independent garden centers, landscapers, and distributors. Riverbend Nursery primarily services the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States.

Our facility is situated on 100 acres in Riner, Virginia and is located in the southwestern portion of the state. The scenic Little River surrounds the property on three sides in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Thirty-four acres are utilized for production; 31 acres in container crops and 3 in field production. A total of 4 million containers are grown yearly in 227 cold frames. Over 1200 varieties are produced in both heated and unheated greenhouses and 70% of these are propagated in-house.

 

Essential Functions

Conducts seminars and training sessions for architects, developers, roofers, building owners, project managers and installers. Goal of no less than 3 presentations weekly on average.
Provide and maintain interactions (presentations, face to face meetings, and pertinent phone calls) weekly in the customer data files.
Review and follow up on all outstanding quotes every 30-45 days, indicating the input in the customer data files, entered into the system. If a job is not won, provide input as to why and/or what system was used entered into the system.
Keep Outlook calendar up to date with presentations and travel plans weekly.
Pursue and accomplish our annual sales goals through personal performance.
Achieve and maintain maximum market penetration.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers.
Demonstrate an exceptional track record of influencing job specs – using Live Roof and Live Wall (if applicable) products.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with our production, growing and shipping staff members.
Visit first time installers on their first install to be sure the job is done according to spec.
Be present on all installations for the first day on all jobs that meet or exceed 2500 sf.
Routinely visit jobs to be sure the roofs are being maintained according to the maintenance guidelines.
Be available to troubleshoot issues on short notice.
Attend periodic company sales meetings on site in Virginia home office.
Attend regional trade shows and networking events.

Job Context

The Area Sales Manager commutes to customer locations an average of 8-10 hours a day throughout the year, with workweeks ranging from 40 to 60 hours per week depending on the season and current commitments. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds (the weight of a module). Work is performed in the home office, car, and at customer businesses, with a majority of time spent driving from one location to the next. Due to the fact that the Area Sales Manager can schedule their time as they see fit, this position allows for a lot of flexibility in scheduling work, as long as sales goals and contact guidelines are being met. The Area Sales Manager is expected to meet or exceed goals set by the management team. Initially, much of the time will be spent traveling, sometimes overnight for customer visits, presentations and tradeshows. This time is used for expanding our market presence, solidifying and growing current customer relationships and accounts, providing education and conducting presentations with architects, engineers and roofers. The remainder of the time will be spent in the office, scheduling appointments, answering calls, making follow up calls, providing customer service and preparing for future customer needs.
