FT Clerical Assistants
Position Summary
Riverbend Nursery is hiring full-time seasonal clerical assistants. Jobs run from Mar-June. Exceptional phone and data entry skills in MS Office applications are required along with the ability to work up to 50 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends. Must be a quick learner, extremely organized, and detail oriented. Successful candidates will work well in fast-paced, sales-oriented environment; enjoy working with people; and have excellent phone skills. About Us
Riverbend Nursery is a progressive, container wholesale growing operation that sells quality ground covers, perennials, and ornamental grasses to retailers, landscapers, and re-wholesalers. The nursery is situated on 100 acres in Riner, Virginia and is located in the southwestern portion of the state, between Christiansburg and Floyd. The scenic Little River surrounds the property on three sides in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Thirty-four acres are utilized for production; 31 acres in container crops and 3 in field production. A total of 4 million containers are grown yearly in 227 cold frames. Over 1800 varieties are produced in both heated and unheated greenhouses and 70% of these are propagated in house. Our distribution area extends from New Jersey to the upper portions of South Carolina with the majority of the product shipped by our own truck fleet. Orders taken for outside of our trucking area and smaller orders are shipped UPS daily. Riverbend Nursery has been in operation for 17 years. During peak growing seasons Riverbend Nursery employs approximately 120 employees with the year round staff totaling around 70 persons.
Essential Functions

Spring Orders |
 |
• Retrieve faxed, mailed, or e-mailed orders and distribute to CRM's or their assistants |
 |
• Enter order quantities according to division in Navision software |
 |
• Print availability reports each morning and distribute them before 8:00am to staff |
 |
• Enter codes for unavailable items and submit to CRM |
 |
• Post orders to Navision system and send confirmation to customer |
 |
• File orders for CRM |
 |
Telephone Duties |
 |
• Answer multi-line phone (act as switchboard operator) |

 |
• Communicate with callers and determine purpose of call |
 |
• Transfer calls to proper individual after attempting to resolve – when able |
 |
• Take messages and forward them to the CRM or AM |
 |
Projects and Reports: |
 |
• Assist in preparation of publicity materials for public distribution |
 |
• Performs sales-related research on the internet |
 |
• Other sales related projects as assigned by the sales manager |
 |
• Fax availability reports to customers and AMs |
